INSURANCE BUSINESS ANALYST needed for firm located in Walnut Creek. (Conveniently located in the heart of downtown Walnut Creek and easily accessible to BART, public transportation, and a wide variety of restaurants and café s!)

This will be a direct hire, or temp-to-hire, placement and the starting salary is $60k - $75k, depending on experience. Candidates must have Property/Casualty insurance experience in either commercial or personal lines.

The qualified candidate MUST have:
  • A Bachelor’ s Degree.
  • A minimum two – three years recent PL and/or CL experience; underwriting, sales, claims or marketing.
  • Two plus years of personal lines and/or Commercial lines insurance business analyst or product analyst experience. Must have Excellent analytical skills!
  • Prior experience with projects; managing and completing projects.
  • Experience with creating and working with Tables and Grids and be at an intermediate level on MS Excel. Must also be at an intermediate level on MS Word and PowerPoint. Visio is also strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with numbers, and be good with numbers, as will need to assist with Vendor Management and reconciliation of bills.

The Insurance Business Analyst will support two groups; product management and the underwriting manager/department. Support duties will include development of new process and products features to achieve profit and growth goals. Provide analysis to evaluate and manage rating, vendor usage, underwriting guidelines, coverage forms, and process.

  • Analyze market, customer and, industry trends; assess best practices and vendor products.
  • Conduct competitive analysis for: coverage, rates, process, rules and communications.
  • Evaluate the proposed impact of procedure, vendor and program changes to key metrics such as expense, profit, production, retention and satisfaction.
  • Contribute to written marketing communications to customers.
  • Vendor budget analysis and vendor relationship oversight.
  • Comparative rater vendor management.
  • Document management and controls (app, dec page, quote, coverage, etc.)
  • Quality assurance testing for product and Underwriting changes.
  • Facilitate IT enhancement and defect prioritization across products and underwriting.
  • Communicate analysis findings in presentations and in writing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
