JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Relationship Manager is responsible for managing a portfolio of commercial banking clients who require financial services and products to meet their needs. In addition to being the primary point of contact and key financial advisor for the client, accountable for prospecting new business and retaining and deepening existing relationships.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
  • Builds relationships with the appropriate decision makers within the client company
  • Develops new business relationships and maintains important revenue-generating client relationships through new business development, relationship and portfolio management activities
  • Maintains relationships with customers and responds to questions, inquiries and requests regarding loan activity on current or prospective accounts.
  • Interview loan applicants, collects financial data to determine the credit worthiness of the loan applicant and the merits of the specific loan request.
  • Analyzes the client’ s financial and operating strategies. Recommends alternative or additional financial services to best meet the client’ s immediate and long-term personal and business needs.
  • Assesses the risks and impact from both the client’ s and bank’ s perspective.
  • Prepares loan presentations for review and approval by manager, or by loan committee, for loan requests in excess of lending limits.
  • Ensures loan delinquencies are minimized.
  • Maintains knowledge of industry and specific markets where the officer has responsibility. Must be well versed in all products and services for proper identification of cross-selling opportunities.
  • Calls on customers and prospective customers to assess banking needs and develop financial solutions.
  • Develops target list of prospects from a variety of internal and external sources.
  • Maintains involvement in the community, attending service and civic events to promote the bank’ s products and services.
  • Assist BSA Compliance Officer for Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) related matters including monitoring of money laundering activity and detection of individuals/organizations appearing on the OFAC list.
  • Identifies opportunities to cross-sell related banking products and services and leads the development of an overall client relationship strategy.

Experience/Education Required:
  • 7 - 10+ years Commercial Lending, Business Development, Commercial Credit and Portfolio Management experience in the commercial banking or middle market sector. 
  • Specific experience handling credit decisions and understanding of credit risk thresholds. 
  • Bachelor’ s degree in business, finance or economics preferred; or equivalent experience
  • Management of an extensive portfolio of clients with annual revenues of $10-$100 million.
  • Proven track record of prospecting new business and enhancing existing relationships. Proven sales skills and experience.
  • Must be able to assess and analyze financial conditions of clients and industry trends.
  • Successful experience in complex transactions; excels at client management success factors.
  • Ability to understand and interpret financial statements and cash flow analysis required.
  • Must have experience managing other employees and have strong leadership skills
