Job Description

Personal Lines Insurance Sr. Underwriting Assistant needed for an MGA located in the Kearny Mesa area – Hybrid/Remote!
  • HOURS:  Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm
  • DURATION:  Temporary to possible Hire.
  • WORKPLACE:  Hybrid role offered; 2-3 days working at home each week. Once trained / up and running!
  • PAY:  Depends on experience - $26/hr. - $31/hr.
  • BENEFITS:  Weekly payroll, direct deposit, online time entry, sick leave pay, and upon meeting eligibility: holiday pay, vacation pay and 401K Retirement Plan.

Job Duties can include but are not limited to:
  • Support underwriters in reviewing and evaluating various personal lines risks, to include homeowners, based on established guidelines to assess risks for such items as adequate coverage, type, amount, location of risks, and proper pricing.
  • Assist with the processing of new business applications, renewals, endorsements, cancellations, reinstatements and non-renewals.
  • Review transactions to determine proper methods of processing.
  • Order and review miscellaneous reports as needed in the rating and underwriting processes, such as Motor Vehicle Reports, loss history reports, credit checks, outside inspections, loss control, etc.
  • Give excellent customer service at all times.

Requirements:
  • The qualified candidate must have a minimum of 2 – 3 years prior, recent, experience working as a PL Underwriting Assistant and have experience working with Homeowners Insurance.
  • Must have strong MS Office skills; Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Clear communication skills; verbal and written.
  • Detail-oriented, able to multi-task and must be able to meet deadlines.
    • Willingness to learn, apply, and increase knowledge in a broad range of insurance laws, company policies, computer systems, and procedures relating to underwriting and operational procedures.
 
  • Regular and consistent attendance as defined per Company policy.
  • Work is performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • Ability to use computer keyboard and sit in a stationary position for extended periods as well as the use of office equipment such as fax and copy machines, and telephones.
  • May be required to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must possess effective communication and listening skills such that complicated information can be communicated in a straight-forward manner that the listener can understand, as well as paraphrasing and questioning to gain a complete understanding of the speakers concerns and goals.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, set goals and meet deadlines.
  • Must be a team player that possesses strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have a professional demeanor, be detail oriented, organized, highly ethical and have a positive attitude.
