Job Description

Insurance Recruiter needed for large insurance agency with multiple offices across 11 states.  Corporate office is located in Scottsdale AZ area.

The Recruiter can be remote or work out of their Scottsdale AZ office while recruiting for the agency’s multiple offices.  If remote, will be required to travel to Scottsdale office on a monthly basis.  This role will be recruiting for Producer candidates for their agency offices.  

  • HOURS: Full-Time Hours, Mon-Fri, 8:00AM-4:30PM
  • DURATION: Direct Hire
  • FLEXIBILITY: Client offers a Flexible work from home policy but does prefer that the recruiter go into their office at least once a month to meet with hiring managers.  If local to their office then they will require at least once a week in the office. 
  • PAY: $80,000 - $100,000 per year, depending on experience.  .

Requirements Education and/or Experience:

  • Prefer a  4 year college degree. 
  • A minimum of 5 years recruitment experience with a strong knowledge of full lifecycle recruiting components including, sourcing, qualifying, networking, assessing, legal, job analysis, wage trends, and relationship management.
  • Effective at cold calling, pursuing warm leads, and transforming candidates into new associates.
  • Demonstrated success at recruiting for Sales candidates and  preferably, those positions within the insurance industry.
  • Ability to manage competing demands, accept constructive feedback, and maintain flexibility.
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills are required.
  • Strong initiative and solid judgment to act independently upon information and make decisions that achieve optimal results.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, and proficient in the use of Internet recruiting applications.

Duties include:

  • Establish and cultivate strong working relationships with hiring managers, industry, community and professional organizations to create a network of contacts to source active and passive candidates; maintaining a pipeline of key talent potentially available for immediate and future hire.
  • Attend conferences, association meetings, job fairs, and other networking events to build relationships and promote the firm.
  • Assess interview skills of hiring managers and other associates involved in the interview process, taking appropriate action when warranted.
  • Working with hiring managers, ensure position descriptions accurately reflect responsibilities, preferred and required skills, knowledge, experience, and physical requirements.
  • Confer with hiring managers and attend departmental meetings to learn the business goals, operations and culture. Use that knowledge to help candidates fully understand the opportunity.
  • Provide a high level of service throughout the recruiting lifecycle.
  • Pre-screen applicants by reviewing resumes, conducting phone and Zoom interviews for appropriateness of skills, experience and knowledge.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for candidates, providing complete, accurate, and inspiring information about the company and position.
  • Inform and guide hiring managers regarding staffing issues, policies, and processes.
  • Create and present interviewing questions to hiring managers for collaboration and approval.
  • Manage scheduling and logistics between candidates and hiring managers.
  • Prepare candidates for interviewing by providing detailed information on the company, the business strategy, department background, job descriptions, and expectation-setting.
  • Organize, lead and document post-interview feedback with interview teams and candidates.
  • Conduct reference and background checks and review results with hiring managers.
  • Extend employment offers under the direction of the hiring manager and within policy guidelines.

Julie Brown is the President of San Diego Insurance Temps, Inc., a company that she has successfully led since its inception. She oversees two divisions: SDI Staffing, which she founded in 1995, and A-Star Staffing, which was acquired in 2023. SDI Staffing specializes in placing temporary and direct hire employees in the insurance industry across California, Arizona, and Nevada. A-Star Staffing focuses on administrative, accounting, HR, and customer service roles within various industries throughout San Diego County.

Julie is a California Licensed Fire/Casualty Agent and a Certified Staffing Professional. Her professional affiliations include membership in the American Staffing Association (ASA), California Staffing Professionals, the San Diego Association of Insurance Professionals (SDAIP), and PWI San Diego. She has served in numerous roles, including President, within these organizations. Additionally, she is an active member of the Independent Agents and Brokers of both Orange County and San Diego. Notably, she was the first Associate Member on the board of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of San Diego (IIAB San Diego). Julie is also dedicated to education, teaching insurance and personal development classes to clients and industry organizations.

Julie's contributions to the industry have been recognized with numerous awards. These include being named among the Elite Women in Insurance in 2022 by Insurance Business America, receiving the SBA’s “Women-Owned Business of the Year for San Diego and Imperial Counties,” and being honored with the “Employer of the Year” award by the San Diego Workforce Partnership. She has also been recognized with the “Women Who Mean Business” Award from the San Diego Business Journal, “Insurance Woman of the Year” by PWI, “Associate Member of the Year” by the Independent Brokers & Agents of San Diego, and “Insurance Professional of the Year” by SDAIP. Additionally, she received the Career Sponsorship Award from the OPT Program at Grossmont College for her commitment to educating young people about the insurance industry.

Before founding San Diego Insurance Temps, Inc., Julie spent over 12 years working in the insurance industry at both carrier and agency levels in Southern California and North Carolina. Her roles ranged from sales and customer service in personal and commercial lines to operations management, giving her comprehensive industry knowledge.

Julie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with a minor in Economics from the University of California, San Diego. A San Diego native, she is married with two married children and enjoys crochet, camping, and reading in her spare time. During race season, she can often be found at the race track, where her son and son-in-law compete in 600 Midgets or dwarf cars.
